WINDSOR, Colo. - Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Thursday announced the signing of former United States youth international midfielder Danny Robles and former Haitian youth international defender Denso Ulysse pending league and federation approval. The young duo have combined for more than 120 USL Championship appearances with Tacoma Defiance.

“These are two fantastic additions who will significantly strengthen our team,” said Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC Head CCoach Éamon Zayed. “Danny has 65 Championship games under his belt and only turned 20 years of age last month. He’s absolutely one to watch out for this year. I’ve already seen his ability firsthand and I’ve no doubt he will continue to develop into a top pro.

“Denso is a workhorse on the right flank. He’s absolute dynamite, up and down that touchline all day long. In 2018 he made the USL Championship All-League Second Team, and then got his move to MLS expansion side Inter Miami. He suffered an injury there which set back his development, but now he’s out to show everyone he’s back stronger and is ready to continue his trajectory to the very top. We have got ourselves someone who we believe is über hungry and ready to compete to win every game.”

Robles, a 20-year-old midfielder from Burien, Wash., came up through the Seattle Sounders FC Academy and has played 65 matches for Tacoma Defiance since 2018, with six goals and seven assists. He appeared in 26 matches with 10 starts last season, scoring one goal and notching three assists in 946 minutes.

In 2020, Robles had three goals and three assists in 12 starts, and was particularly ruthless against rivals Timbers 2, scoring two goals and two assists in five matches against his Cascadian opponent. In 2019, as a 17-year-old, he started 16 matches for the Defiance, scoring two goals and registering one assist, and was an unused substitute for the Seattle Sounders in a US Open Cup fourth-round match against the Portland Timbers.

Robles also made the team sheet five times for the US Men’s National U-17 side in 2018, starting against England, Brazil, Russia and Turkey. The USMNT went 3-0-1 in his four starts—he was an unused substitute in the fifth match, against Portugal—with the lone loss coming against England.

“I am excited and eager to play at this club in its inaugural season,” said Robles. “I was really attracted to the ambitious goals that the club set out. I am ready and can’t wait to play in front of the crowd here in Northern Colorado.”

Haiti-born Ulysse, a 23-year-old fullback, was signed by Inter Miami FC ahead of the club’s inaugural 2020 MLS season. However, a knee injury kept him from featuring for Inter Miami, and the Richmond Kickers signed him late in the 2021 season instead.

Ulysse started 54 matches for the Defiance between 2017 and 2019, with a further four appearances off the bench. His best season came in 2018, when he started 28 matches, was third in USL Championship in interceptions with 78, had 20 chances created, and earned USL All-League Second Team honors and was named to the USL 20 Under 20 List.

Ulysse also has international experience, having represented the Haiti U-23 national team during the 2020 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship qualifiers. Haiti advanced through the play-in round to the championship, but at the championship finished fourth in pool play and failed to advance to the Olympics in Beijing.

“I’m glad to be part of this team,” said Ulysse. “It’s going to be a long season, with so much work to do. I believe we’re going to make something good this season together. I’m here to help the team win and achieve its goals. I’m excited to be part of that, and this means a lot to me.”
