GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Triumph SC on Thursday announced the addition of Peter Pearson and Jimmy Filerman to the 2022 roster, pending league and federation approval. The pair of Virginia natives bring Triumph SC’s roster to 18 players ahead of the start of preseason training in early February.

Pearson, a midfielder, spent the 2021 season with North Carolina FC, recording two goals and 1,560 minutes across 27 matches. He also appeared in seven matches, including five playoff contests, for Oakland Roots SC in 2020. Pearson began his professional career with Tormenta FC during the inaugural USL League One season in 2019. Before his move to Statesboro, the defensive midfielder played at the University of Virginia before transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University.

“He’s a quality midfielder that possesses the ball well, has great vision, and has high great character that we always look for in our players, said head coach John Harkes. “Peter adds value to our roster with his experience and ability to play in a number of positions on the field.”

Jimmy Filerman will also be joining the Triumph squad in 2022. The defensive back was an impressive prospect from the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) and signed with FC Tucson ahead of the 2021 season. He bookended his Tucson stint with two campaigns at Detroit FC in 2020 and 2021. During his time with Detroit, Filerman appeared in 31 matches and started 25, totaling 2,234 minutes with the now-USL Championship club. He tallied six goals and three assists across the two seasons, earning NISA All-League Second Team honors in 2021. Filerman also brings experience from USL League Two, playing the 2018 season with the Cincinnati Dutch Lions before graduating from Old Dominion University (ODU). Filerman also played for Seattle Sounders U-23's in 2019.

“Jimmy is an experienced pro that we have tracked for a while. He’s coming off a great season with Detroit City and has key qualities to excel with us in 2022,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “A technically clean player with a great work ethic, he has the ability to see the game well as a left wing back. We are looking forward to working him into our GTSC system and culture.”
