CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Red Wolves today announced the signing of first-year professional, Pedro Hernández. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Hernández was born in Walnut Creek, Calif. and began his collegiate career in 2017 at California State, Monterey Bay as a right midfielder. Throughout four seasons with the Otters, Hernández made 56 appearances and scored 16 goals - setting a career record of 10 goals and 6 assists in 17 games during the 2021 season. In 2019 the midfielder recorded his first career hat trick - the third in school history.

Hernández says that signing his first professional contract is a dream come true. “My hard work and sacrifice are finally starting to pay off, but the journey has only just begun. There is a lot more work to do,” said Hernández. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to sign with the Chattanooga Red Wolves. Their style of play, culture, and unity is what will pave the way to success. Our group's desire to win is greater than the fear of failure. With that mentality, we are ready for anything.”

Red Wolves Head Coach, Jimmy Obleda, identified Hernández at the Red Wolves' open combine in December. “He is a crafty young man that we are very excited to bring in this year. He has all the attributes that we look for in a winger, on top of it he scores goals. That’s not easy to find,” said Obleda. “We’re looking forward to great things from Pedro this year as we add him to our attacking group.”

“Pedro looks to be one of the more exciting and dynamic players on the Red Wolves roster,” said Red Wolves GM & President, Sean McDaniel. “When Coach Obleda and I sat down to discuss filling in roster gaps for 2022 it was clear we needed a high-energy, durable flank player. Pedro fits that role and we have high hopes for a breakout season for him.”
