CARY, N.C. - Forward Oalex Anderson has signed a contract with North Carolina FC for the 2022 season, the club announced today. The deal is pending league and federation approval.

“I am very excited to come back to USL to continue with my football journey,” Anderson said. “The genuine interest I've received from the club and the spirit of what NCFC is looking to achieve is refreshing, and I am confident in making a positive impact for the team and scoring goals. I am familiar with North Carolina from playing in the league and admired both the fans and the stadium. I can't wait to land and get going for the club and fans alike.”

Anderson joins the club from the Richmond Kickers of USL League One, where he made 31 appearances during the 2021 season, collecting five goals and three assists over 977 minutes of playing time. Prior to joining the Kickers, the forward played for the Tacoma Defiance (formerly Seattle Sounders FC 2) of the USL Championship, making 17 appearances and netting five goals, and in 2016 spent time with Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer, likewise making 17 appearances and winning an MLS Cup while with the Sounders.

Hailing from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Anderson has also represented his country on the international stage. Since registering his first cap with the senior national team in 2014, Anderson has logged 30 appearances for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, scoring 14 goals, six of which came in World Cup qualifying matches, and adding one assist in 2,342 minutes of playing time.

“Oalex is a dynamic, athletic player that will have an immediate impact in our attacking group,” said Head Coach John Bradford. “He is versatile and can play in different roles in the front line, contributing to attacking threats, goals, and assists. He brings quality professional and international experience into the team and will be a great addition on the field and in the locker room. I look forward to welcoming Oalex to North Carolina FC and working with him soon.”
