Union Omaha’s Devin Boyce Earns League One Fans’ Choice Goal of the Year

Playoff volley provided exclamation point to Semifinal victory on way to title for Los Buhos

TAMPA, Fla. – The 2021 season for Union Omaha’s Devin Boyce is likely to be remembered most for his creative exploits in leading Los Buhos to their first USL League One title.

The 2021 All-League Selection added a final signature moment to his year on Monday, however, as his outstanding volley on the road to the title against FC Tucson was voted the USL League One Fans’ Choice Goal of the Year.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Boyce was past of Omaha’s inaugural season in 2020 as he joined the professional ranks. This past campaign he shone in the attacking third, finishing second in League One with nine assists and seventh with 43 chances created. The 25-year-old also shone when given the chance to shoot as he added five goals to his tally, the last of which proved the most spectacular. Hosting FC Tucson in the Semifinals of the 2021 USL League One Playoffs, Boyce’s crisp volley from the top of the penalty area provided the highlight of a 6-1 victory that send Omaha on to the League One Final.

Boyce’s goal earned a 54-46 percent victory against Toronto FC II’s Antonio Carlini in the Final of the Fans’ Choice Goal of the Year voting over the past week, following a Quarterfinal win against teammate Nicolas Firmino and a win against the Richmond Kickers’ Zaca Moran in the Semifinals.
