Talented shot-stopper takes second consecutive award for diving save on road against Greenville

TAMPA, Fla. – The New England Revolution II’s Joe Rice has claimed the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award for October presented by Cleer Audio, earning a second consecutive monthly honor for a brilliant diving save against Greenville Triumph SC last month which finished first in the fan poll conducted over the past weekend.

Rice posted a save percentage of 76.2 percent on the season, and his October form was highlighted by an excellent diving save on the road against Greenville on October 16 that saw him deny Triumph SC midfielder Aaron Walker’s attempt from long range to the left corner of the net.

Rice’s save earned 56 percent of the poll conducted at USLLeagueOne.com. North Carolina FC’s Jake McGuire finished in second place on 22 percent for an excellent fingertip save that kept out a strike from Greenville Triumph SC’s JJ Donnelly on October 30, while Greenville’s Paul Christensen took third place on 10 percent for his reflex stop to keep out Fort Lauderdale CF on October 1.
