TAMPA, Fla. – Hosts Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and FC Tucson advanced in the Quarterfinals of the 2021 USL League One Playoffs, presented by TwinSpires, on Saturday night, but both sides were stretched by their visitors on a compelling opening night of the postseason.

The No. 3-seed Red Wolves needed extra time to earn a 2-1 victory against No. 6-seed North Texas SC at CHI Memorial Stadium as leading scorer Juan Galindrez scored in the 113th minute to secure advancement (Full Report | Box Score). Making its first postseason appearance, Chattanooga appeared in control of the game with the lead and a player advantage after North Texas was reduced to 10 men after a red card in the 29th minute, but the visitors fought back to notch a second-half goal by Bernard Kamungo to send the game to extra time. The Red Wolves were also reduced to 10 players in the first period of extra time but came through to advance to face No. 2-seed Greenville Triumph SC this Saturday night.

No. 4-seed FC Tucson, meanwhile, had to sustain substantial pressure throughout its clash with the No. 5-seed Richmond Kickers at Kino North Stadium, but an 87th-minute goal by Deri Corfe on the lone shot on goal of the game for the hosts proved enough to earn victory (Full Report | Box Score). Tucson advances to face top seed Union Omaha on Saturday evening at Werner Park.

Both semifinal matches will take place next Saturday night and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
