The final month of the 2021 USL League One regular season saw playoff races and battles for position play out with some of the league’s goalkeepers featuring in key roles through their overall performances, and with outstanding saves to help their sides to success. Now the five winners of the past month’s Save of the Week award have advanced, and you get to vote for the one that will earn the USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award.

Voting will continue through 12 p.m. ET on Monday, November 8.

USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Month Finalists – October

Paul Christensen (GVL) - #GVLvFTL, 10/1/21: Christensen posted a shutout to lead off the month against Fort Lauderdale CF that included this outstanding denial on Shaan Hundal in the first half at Legacy Early College.

Jake McGuire (NC) - #NCvCHA, 10/9/21: McGuire got a good read on the penalty kick by Chattanooga Red Wolves SC’s Jose Carrera-Garcia and made a strong save on the shot to the left corner to parry it away to safety for his defense to clear.

Joe Rice (NE) - #GVLvNE, 10/16/21: Named to the League One Team of the Week in Week 27, Rice’s best of 12 saves during two games came against Triumph SC on Saturday night as he clawed away a beautiful curling shot by Greenville Triumph SC’s Aaron Walker to the top-left corner.

Philip Breno (MAD) - #OMAvMAD, 10/20/21: Breno reacted sharply to a near-post finish by Union Omaha’s Greg Hurst to tip the ball over the crossbar in the second half of the Flamingos’ 2-1 victory at Werner Park.

Jake McGuire (NC) - #NCvGVL, 10/30/21: McGuire earned a second weekly honor for the month when he produced a brilliant fingertip save to keep out a cleverly worked corner kick that Greenville Triumph SC’s Andrew Booth caught on the volley and fired toward the top-right corner.
