ARLINGTON, Texas – North Texas SC moved above playoff line with a 3-1 win over New England Revolution II at Globe Life Park on Saturday night.
New England started the match on the front foot, with Justin Rennicks putting the visitors ahead 1-0 in just the fourth minute of play, but the rest of the match belonged to North Texas.
NTSC equalized just six minutes later with Eddie Munjoma beating Revolution goalkeeper Joe Rice with a left-footed shot to tie the match at 1-1 in only the 10th minute.
North Texas SC was reduced to 10 men in the 27th minute when Mark Salas was shown a straight red card for tripping Rennicks just outside the 18-yard box as the last defender.
Despite the disadvantage, North Texas powered to victory with three goals in the second half.
Bernard Kamungo scored in the 57th minute and 89th minutes, plus a Gibran Rayo goal in the 83rd minute, to earn NTSC all three points.
North Texas moved into fifth place with the win, two points ahead of both New England and FC Tucson. North Texas hosts regular season champion Union Omaha next weekend in the regular season finale. New England visits Toronto FC II and Tucson hosts the Richmond Kickers.
