Terzaghi scores lone goal early in second half in 1-0 victory at City Stadium

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers claimed consecutive victories for the first time this season as it handed Chattanooga Red Wolves SC its first consecutive defeats in 2021 as Emilio Terzaghi’s 14th goal of the season earned a 1-0 win at City Stadium.

Chattanooga’s Blake Frischknecht had two notable chances in the opening 20 minutes, the first saved by Richmond’s Akira Fitzgerald and the second hitting the right post as the visitors threatened to take the early lead. Richmond also went close late in the half as Terzaghi fired a turning shot from 12 yards that was saved by Red Wolves goalkeeper Tim Trilk.

The Argentine produced the breakthrough in the 52nd minute, however, as after the hosts recycled a corner from the left that Trilk had punched clear, a cross from the right was headed on target by Jalen Crisler. Trilk made a diving save to keep the effort out, but the rebound came straight to Terzaghi, who volleyed home from inside the six-yard area.

The Red Wolves tried to find a way back into the game but were held at bay by Fitzgerald, who finished with a six-save shutout. The visitors were also reduced to 10 men with five minutes to go as Jason Ramos was sent off for his second yellow card of the game, and from there, Richmond saw out the win as the hosts further boosted their playoff hopes.

Richmond's next match is a midweek rivalry clash with Forward Madison FC, while Chattanooga has another road fixture up against North Carolina FC on Saturday, Oct. 9.
