MADISON, Wis. - Forward Madison FC and Greenville Triumph SC played to an entertaining 1-1 draw on Saturday night at Breese Stevens Field, keeping both sides' postseason hopes in good shape.
Madison took the lead in the 21st minute, thanks in large part to former Greenville star Jake Keegan. The striker did well to drill a low ball through the danger area, which would have gone in on its own but was slammed home from close range by Derek Gebhard.
Triumph SC would draw level in the closing stages of the match. Lachlan McLean, who made his return from injury on the night, wasted no time returning to the scoresheet as well. The Australian forward pounced on a loose touch by FMFC goalkeeper Philip Breno to equalize for Greenville, earning his side a precious point when the final whistle blew.
Both teams are back in action on Friday, with Madison traveling to take on the New England Revolution II and Greenville returning home to host Fort Lauderdale CF.
