TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced Thursday that Forward Madison FC midfielder Aaron Molloy has been voted USL League One’s Player of the Month for August after recording impressive numbers in multiple key statistical categories, leading his side to a 1-1-2 record during the month.
“I’m over the moon with the award, it shows my hard work is paying off and I couldn’t have won this without the help of my teammates,” said Molloy.
The Irish central midfielder joined Madison ahead of the 2021 season, and has recorded three goals and three assists during his time with the club so far. Across four August appearances for the Flamingos, Molloy created six chances, won 30 of 45 duels, made 14 tackles and 41 recoveries.
He also scored a fantastic volley goal against Toronto FC II, which earned Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week honors for Week 20 of the regular season.
"My goals for the rest of the season are to finish strong and as high up in the table as possible and bring a championship to Madison,” said Molloy.
Molloy received 33 percent of a weighted poll that included the USL League One Technical Committee and an online fan vote held at USLLeagueOne.com. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC winger Ricky Ruiz finished second on 24 percent after recording a goal and three assists during August, while New England Revolution II forward Edward Kizza finished third on 17 percent as he tallied four goals in three games.
