Both sides scored in the first half to split the points

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution II and South Georgia Tormenta FC both scored in the first half to split the points in a 1-1 draw on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium.

New England opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Damian Rivera went on a slaloming (if a bit sloppy) run past multiple defenders, and his cross found its way to Ryan Spaulding, who fired it in to give the home side an early edge.

But it would take Tormenta just 10 minutes to equalize, courtesy of a well-worked corner kick routine. Stefan Mueller rolled the ball in for Kristo Strickler, who pulled it back for Azaad Liadi. Liadi did well to finish from a tight angle, drawing his side level with his third goal in two games.

Despite a handful of chances for both sides in the second half, neither was able to find the decisive goal, and the game finished all square.

Both teams are back in action next Saturday, as New England visits North Carolina FC and Tormenta hosts North Texas SC.
