FC Tucson scores equalizer four minutes after North Texas to force a draw in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas - A game with a slow start definitely had an exciting finish as both North Texas SC and FC Tucson scored in the final 15 minutes to finish 1-1 and remain above the playoff line after splitting points.

North Texas took the majority of the possession in the first half, but neither team had any close chances or exciting saves. The best chance on either side came in stoppage time of the first half when North Texas’ Thibaut Jacquel sent a rocket just over the crossbar after a free-kick.

The teams brought a new life and some excitement onto the pitch after exiting the locker rooms for the final 45 minutes. Both sides had quality opportunities to score at the beginning of the second half, but the first goal did not come until the 76th minute.

Pressing is a big part of the offensive game for forwards, and Kazu was able to capitalize for North Texas after forcing Tucson to commit an area right outside the box. Kazu took advantage of the opportunity and was able to rocket a shot past the goalkeeper to open the game.

The equalizer for FC Tucson came only four minutes later when Noah Franke slotted a perfectly placed, low cross into the feet of an unmarked Deri Corfe who smashed it into the high center of the goal from close range.

Finishing the game in a draw allowed both teams to keep their undefeated streaks alive, as well as their chances of making League One playoffs.

North Texas is back in action on Wednesday night, when Eric Quill's side will travel to Tennessee to take on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Tucson has the midweek off before hosting Fort Lauderdale CF next Saturday.
