A brace from Shak Adams helped Tucson defeat Triumph SC

TUCSON, Ariz. - FC Tucson defeated Greenville Triumph SC 2-1 behind a pair of goals from Shak Adams on Saturday night at Kino North Stadium.

Neither side created a bounty of opportunities early on, but Tucson broke the deadlock in the final minute of the first half. A clever through ball from Charlie Dennis played in Adams, who smashed his finish to the far post to put the home side in front.

On the other side of halftime, Adams would double his and Tucson's tally for the night, finishing off a brilliant team move with a close-range strike.

Triumph SC ramped up its attacking intent in the later stages, and got a consolation goal through Don Smart in stoppage time. But the home side would see out the result in the end, picking up an important three points to move itself into the heart of the playoff race.

Greenville's next fixture is a home matchup against Toronto FC II on Friday, September 3, while Tucson faces a road trip to take on North Texas SC on Saturday, September 4.
