Robby Kristo scored a second-consecutive brace to spur the visitors to three points

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A pair of penalty kicks from Robby Kristo propelled North Carolina FC to a 3-2 win over Fort Lauderdale CF on Sunday night at DRV PNK Stadium.

Jay Tee Kamara got the visitors on the board before the clock had reached the five-minute mark, picking up the ball near midfield and driving at defenders. His long, direct run ended at the edge of the penalty area, where he fired a precise low strike to the bottom corner.

Fort Lauderdale would quickly equalize through Edison Azcona though, who answered with a fine low shot of his own five minutes after Kamara's opener. But the restored parity wouldn't last until halftime, as Kristo put NCFC back on top with a precise penalty kick.

A beautiful cross from Dairon Reyes and header by Modesto Méndez knotted the score up again in the 79th minute, but yet another Kristo penalty kick in second half stoppage time sealed the win for North Carolina despite the best efforts of the home side.

The victory was NCFC's second in a row, and its first away from home this season.

NCFC has a quick turnaround for its next match, which is another away game against the New England Revolution II on Thursday. Fort Lauderdale is off for two weeks before continuing its three-game homestead against Greenville Triumph SC on August 15.
