Goals from Carrera-Garcia, Fuson see both sides take a point in tense match

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Red Wolves and Forward Madison FC put on one of the more entertaining contests just over the midway point through the season, but both sides ultimately settled for a point as Red Wolves midfielder Jose Carrera-Garcia's goal was canceled out by Madison winger Noah Fuson's effort with neither side able to break the deadlock in the second half.

The visitors created the first chance of the game just two minutes in when Madison forward Jake Keegan caught a bouncing ball on the way up and forced Chattanooga goalkeeper Tim Trilk into an acrobatic save. Four minutes later, it was the hosts who would open the scoring instead as midfielder José Carrera-Garcia took a short pass from outside midfielder Jackson Dietrich and rifled a shot into the roof of the net to open the scoring. Then, in the 15th minute, Madison goalkeeper Phil Breno came up big to deny Chattanooga defender Jonathan Esparza from close range to prevent a second goal. Settling into the match, Madison's hard work in attack would pay off as Derek Gebhard's cross thumped against the head of Noah Fuson, bringing the visitors back level.

Well into the second half, Madison midfielder Jesús Pérez forced a good stop from Trilk as they searched for a late equalizer, and a block from defender Jason Ramos on Madison in the 90th minute is all that kept the Mingos from finding a late winner.

Up next for Madison is another big away match against Union Omaha on August 7, while Chattanooga has a 10-day break before hitting the road to take on North Carolina FC.
