World-class goal from midfield highlights excellent team performance

CARY, N.C. - Brilliant braces from Robbie Kristo and Josh Coan propelled North Carolina FC to a 4-0 win over the Richmond Kickers on Wednesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park.

NCFC opened the scoring on 19 minutes through Kristo. The veteran forward did well to rise above a crowd in the box and expertly place his floating header out of reach for Richmond's goalkeeper and defenders alike, handing the home side the early edge.

Kristo then doubled his and NCFC's tally with one of the best goals you'll see anywhere in the world this season. Alone at midfield, the striker controlled a bouncing ball with his chest, swiveled, and smashed a 45-yard volley which caught Richmond's Akira Fitzgerald off his line and flew spectacularly into the net.

On the other side of halftime, Coan clinically finished off a rapid counterattack to open his account for the season. After a late red card for Richmond's Ivan Magalhães, Coan bagged another, rounding off a perfect night for the hosts which saw them pick up an important three points.

Richmond is back in action at the weekend, when the Kickers venture further south for a meeting with Tormenta FC in Georgia. NCFC has an 11-day break before hitting the road to face Fort Lauderdale CF on Sunday, August 1.
