The two sides finished level after Connor Tobin's header canceled out Devin Boyce's opener

PAPILLION, Neb. - Union Omaha and Forward Madison FC battled to a 1-1 draw on Friday night at Werner Park.

Omaha opened the scoring after just 11 minutes through Devin Boyce, who got on the end of an overhead through ball from Conor Doyle and fired a powerful left-footed strike to the far post.

The Flamingos nearly drew level in the final minute of the first half, but Omaha goalkeeper Kevin Piedrahita denied Jake Keegan with a fantastic diving save.

Madison got its equalizer in the second half though, with captain Connor Tobin powering home a header off a cross from Aaron Molloy in the 67th minute. Tobin then made a terrific challenge to deny Omaha's Greg Hurst a goal-scoring opportunity moments later.

Despite both teams showing some desire to find a winner late on, the match would finish all square, keeping the season series between the clubs dead even with a draw and one win apiece in their three 2021 meetings thus far.

Madison returns home next weekend for a meeting with Fort Lauderdale CF, while Omaha will head west to take on FC Tucson on July 24.
