The only goal of the game arrived in the first minute of the second half for New England

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - A goal right at the start of the second half saw the New England Revolution II record a 1-0 win over Toronto FC II on Friday night at Gillette Stadium.

The Revolution II had more of the ball and more of the chances throughout the first half, but the game remained scoreless heading into halftime. Despite New England's control, the best chance of the opening stages fell to Toronto's Julian Altobelli, who was denied by a sprawling Joe Rice in a 1v1 situation with the goalkeeper.

However, it took less than a minute of second half action for the Revolution II to find a well-deserved breakthrough goal. A ball into the box by Noel Buck initially looked to have been miscontrolled by Damian Rivera, but the New England attacker thought creatively to poke it home and give his side the lead.

TFC II made substitutions in pursuit of an equalizer, and were handed a golden opportunity to draw level when Rice brought down Rohan Goulbourne in the box. But the New England goalkeeper atoned for his mistake with an excellent, diving save to his left, and the Revolution II preserved its clean sheet until the final whistle to earn a win.

Both teams are back in action on the road next Saturday, with TFC II facing North Carolina FC and New England heading west to take on FC Tucson.
