STATESBORO, Ga. - Toronto FC II scored on either side of halftime to claim a 2-1 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC on Wednesday night at Erk Russell Park.
The visitors opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the final minute of first half normal time. Noble Okello, on loan from the Toronto FC senior team, took a composed spot kick to give the Young Reds the lead heading into the break.
Antonio Carlini would double Toronto's advantage 10 minutes into the second half with a clever finish off the post. Rodney Michael scored his first professional goal to give Tormenta hope in the closing stages, but the Young Reds were able to see out the game and pick up three points on the road.
Tormenta has another home match this Saturday against North Carolina FC, while TFC II gets a much-deserved break before traveling to take on the New England Revolution II on Friday, July 9.
