Jake Keegan's 20th minute strike was the difference as the Flamingos won at home

MADISON, Wis. - An early strike from Jake Keegan spurred Forward Madison FC to a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution II on Wednesday night at Breese Stevens Field.

Madison couldn't find the net for the entire game in the meeting between these two teams 10 days ago - which New England won 2-0 - but on Wednesday it took the Flamingos only 20 minutes to break the deadlock.

Playing just along the backline, Keegan timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap and get on the receiving end of a through ball from Christian Díaz. The experienced striker made no mistake with the finish, giving Madison the lead with his fifth goal of the season.

The Revolution II ratcheted up the pressure in search of an equalizer throughout the second half, and came close to finding one when Noel Buck thundered a shot off the crossbar. But the Flamingos were able to preserve their shutout until the final whistle, snapping a five-match winless run.

New England returns to action at the weekend, when the Revs II will host Greenville Triumph SC at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. Meanwhile, Madison has a 10-day break before hitting the road to take on North Texas SC on July 10.
