Triumph SC overturned an early two-goal deficit to earn a point

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Triumph SC came back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Forward Madison FC on Wednesday night at Legacy Early College.

The Flamingos found themselves two goals ahead inside 15 minutes thanks to a quick-fire double from Aaron Molloy. Jiro Barriga Toyama flashed a bit of skill to beat his man and earn a penalty kick, which Molloy converted. The Irishman then smashed in a first-time screamer from the edge of the area three minutes later, which was still rising as it rocketed into the net.

Greenville would get a goal back before halftime. Allen Gavilanes did well to find space down the left flank and play a low ball across the face of goal, and Andrew Booth popped up to tap it in. Triumph SC continued to press forward in search of an equalizer in the second half, and was rewarded for its efforts in the 68th minute.

The goal came from an unsurprising source, as Greenville striker Marios Lomis scored from the penalty spot to level the score. The tally was Lomis' league-leading eighth of the season, and marked his third-straight game with a goal. In the final 22 minutes, neither side found the net and the teams split the points.

Up next, Greenville hits the road on Saturday looking to become the first team this season to take points off of Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at CHI Memorial Stadium. Madison has the weekend off before hosting New England Revolution II next Wednesday.
