FRISCO, Texas – North Texas SC announced Monday that the club has reached a transfer agreement with Liga MX side Atlético San Luis for midfielder David Rodriguez in the club’s first-ever outgoing player transfer. Per team policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed. The 19-year-old helped North Texas win the 2019 USL League One title in his first season as a professional.
Rodriguez was loaned to Atlético San Luis on Jan. 25, 2021, making four appearances and two starts in the Mexican first division. Rodriguez joined the FC Dallas Academy in 2017 and scored 10 goals in 13 games before signing with North Texas SC on Feb. 10, 2019 ahead of the club’s inaugural season. Rodriguez’s first professional goal came on May 23, 2019 and was assisted by his older brother, Arturo, against Forward Madison at Toyota Stadium. In all, Rodriguez played 30 games over two seasons with North Texas and scored two goals and added an assist along the way.
