Red Wolves SC scored three times in the closing stages to beat North Carolina

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A dramatic late flurry saw Chattanooga Red Wolves SC score three times in the closing stages to defeat North Carolina FC 3-2 on Sunday night at CHI Memorial Stadium.

For the fourth time this season, NCFC scored within the opening 15 minutes of the game. It was a beautiful bit of Route 1 soccer, with Luis Arriaga playing a long ball over the top. 18-year-old Cole Frame took an excellent touch to control it and finished coolly for his first professional goal.

From there, Chattanooga took control. The Red Wolves had 66 percent of the possession in the opening 45 minutes, created 15 chances and had 10 corner kicks, but couldn't find the net thanks to a standout performance from 15-year-old Nicholas Holliday. The young NCFC goalkeeper made seven saves in the first half of his pro debut to preserve his team's lead heading into halftime.

On the other side of the break, Red Wolves SC continued to pepper Holliday and the NCFC defense. Chattanooga hit the woodwork twice, and just when it was starting to look like it might not be their night, Juan Galindrez came to the rescue for the home team.

Latching on to a through ball from Marky Hernandez, Galindrez cleverly chipped Holliday to bring the Red Wolves level - and once the dam broke, the goals started to flow for Chattanooga.

Galindrez popped up to score again in the 88th minute, his fourth goal of the season as a substitute and his third scored in the final 10 minutes of a game. Hernandez added another in stoppage time to put Chattanooga ahead by two, which proved vital after NCFC's Max Flick scored the away side's second goal of the night three minutes later. But there wasn't enough time for North Carolina to find a third, and the Red Wolves recorded the win.

Both teams have home games up next. North Carolina will host the Richmond Kickers on Friday, while Greenville Triumph SC will pay a visit to Chattanooga next Saturday.
