ARLINGTON, Texas - A physical battle between North Texas SC and FC Tucson saw three red cards but no goals, as the game ended in a 0-0 draw on Saturday night at Globe Life Park.
In a match of few big chances, the best for either side fell to North Texas when the home team was awarded a penalty kick in the first half. But Tucson goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley came up big for the visitors, denying Alex Bruce's attempt from the spot with a quick dive low and to his right.
The second half then devolved into chaos. Tucson's Noah Franke was shown a straight red card in the 57th minute, and 25 minutes later, North Texas' Jorge Imanol Almaguer joined him in making an early exit. Tucson's Gio Calixtro was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the final minute of regulation, and the match finished scoreless with both teams shorthanded.
Each club is back in action on the road next Saturday. North Texas will make the trip to Massachusetts to face the New England Revolution II, while Tucson will pay a visit to Union Omaha.
