The two teams each got a goal to split the points at City Stadium

RICHMOND, Va. - A late own goal for Union Omaha canceled out Ferrety Sousa's first-half strike, as los Búhos played to a 1-1 draw with the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night at City Stadium.

The opening stages of the game were cagey, as Richmond had more of the ball but Omaha looked the more likely side to score. That proved to be true just after the half-hour mark, when Sousa whipped in a dangerous cross from his right back spot.

The ball made it through everyone and ended up in the net without another touch, giving Omaha the lead before halftime.

On the other side of the break, Richmond continued to control possession and generated a handful of scoring chances. In the end, the Kickers were rewarded for their increased attacking intent with a bit of fortune, as Jalen Crisler's header deflected into the net to level the score in the 76th minute.

Omaha might have retaken the lead late on if not for some excellent goalkeeping by Richmond's Akira Fitzgerald, and so the game ended all square.

Up next for Richmond is a road trip to face North Carolina FC on Friday, June 25. Omaha will return to Werner Park to open a three-game home stand against FC Tucson next Saturday.
