Following the USL League One match between Greenville Triumph SC and North Carolina FC on Wednesday, June 16, the USL was made aware that North Carolina FC goalkeeper Jake McGuire had allegedly kicked a soccer ball directly toward the stand behind his goal, where fans were still present. The league subsequently investigated the incident and has been in contact with both clubs.

As a result of the investigation, McGuire has been suspended one match and fined an undisclosed amount in accordance with the league's Major Game Misconduct policy.
