GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Triumph SC came from behind to win 2-1 over North Carolina FC on Wednesday night at Legacy Early College, holding its lead late despite going down to 10 men for the final 23 minutes of the game.
Jay Tee Kamara got the visitors going with a goal 11 minutes into the match. The NCFC winger capitalized on a loose touch from a Greenville defender, burst through on goal, then kept his composure to finish past an onrushing Dallas Jaye.
NCFC continued to create chances, but Greenville would draw level before halftime thanks to two of its new signings. Marios Lomis held the ball up well and played a clever through ball to Don Smart, who tucked the opportunity away to equalize for Triumph SC.
Lomis got on the scoresheet himself on the other side of the break, polishing off a brilliant team move for his league-leading sixth goal of the season. Triumph SC's Alex Morrell was sent off in the 67th minute, but Greenville saw out its one-goal lead until the final whistle to pick up all three points.
Both clubs are on the road this weekend for their next fixtures. Greenville visits South Georgia Tormenta FC for the second time this season on Saturday, while North Carolina FC heads to Chattanooga on Sunday for its first-ever meeting with Red Wolves SC.
