NTSC avenged a 4-0 defeat to Triumph SC from earlier in the season

ARLINGTON, Texas - Goals from three different scorers saw North Texas SC defeat Greenville Triumph SC 3-0 on Sunday night at Globe Life Park, becoming the first team to beat Greenville in 2021.

In the first meeting between these two sides this season, Greenville walked out 4-0 winners, and North Texas came out hungry to avenge that heavy defeat. Bernard Kamungo wrought havoc down the right flank for the home side from the get-go, and played a key role in Gibran Rayo's opening goal for North Texas just six minutes into the match.

Kalil ElMedkhar then doubled the advantage in spectacular fashion later in the first half, cutting inside on his right foot and unleashing a beautiful curler from outside the box that found the top corner.

Nkosi Burgess kept the party going four minutes after halftime, cleverly poking in a cross from Edwin Cerrillo. North Texas then nursed the 3-0 lead until the final whistle, and Greenville's loss means there are no longer any unbeaten teams in League One this season.

Both teams have home games up next. Greenville gets a chance to bounce back in less than 72 hours, when they match up against North Carolina FC on Wednesday at Legacy Early College. North Texas will look to keep its newfound momentum going when it hosts FC Tucson next Saturday.
