During the USL League One match between South Georgia Tormenta FC and Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday, June 5, an altercation occurred between Chattanooga defender Sebastian Capozucchi and several players from USL League Two team South Georgia Tormenta FC 2, who were watching the match as spectators at Erk Russell Park. The league subsequently interviewed all parties involved in the incident and has been in regular contact with both clubs throughout the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Capozucchi has been suspended four matches and fined an undisclosed amount in accordance with the league’s Major Game Misconduct policy. The investigation also found a lack of appropriate safety and security presence in the stands at Erk Russell Park, and as such the league has fined South Georgia Tormenta FC an undisclosed amount.

An investigation is still ongoing to determine the identities of the individual offenders from Tormenta FC 2. Once identified, any players found to have violated the league’s Foul and Abusive Language policy will be issued suspensions as well as given further training and education through USL’s partnership with the Institute for Sport and Social Justice.
