Marco Micaletto's 88th minute goal earned three points for South Georgia

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Marco Micaletto's late goal saw South Georgia Tormenta FC defeat Toronto FC II 1-0 in the Young Reds' first match at their new temporary home venue of Osceola Heritage Park in central Florida on Wednesday night.

The first half featured few chances as the sides felt each other out, combining for just one total shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. The game remained cagey on the other side of halftime, though Tormenta began to dial up the pressure a bit more.

Luca Mayr saw a well-hit free kick saved by TFC II goalkeeper Kevin Silva early in the second half, and Micaletto's left-footed curler deflected inches wide of the far post right on the hour mark.

The game opened up in the closing stages, and TFC II created a handful of chances of their own. But it would be Tormenta who snatched the points late on, as Micaletto popped up in the 88th minute to poke home Curtis Thorn's low cross. That would prove to be the only goal of the match, and it helped South Georgia pick up its second-straight shutout victory.

Wednesday night's meeting was the first of four between these two sides in the month of June. The second installment will take place this Sunday in Statesboro.

Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC - In tight games with few opportunities, you often need your star players to step up and make a difference. That's exactly what Micaletto did, making a run very late in a game played in high Florida heat to put himself in a position to score the winner and earn his side three points.
