Kickers defeat New England Revolution II in a five-goal thriller

RICHMOND, Va. - Goals from three different scorers helped the Richmond Kickers earn an entertaining 3-2 win over the New England Revolution II on Saturday night at City Stadium.

The Kickers got the game off to a flying start by scoring the fastest goal of the League One season so far. Matt Bolduc got the home side on the board after just 25 seconds following some slick buildup play from Nil Vinyals and Jonathan Bolanos.

New England created chances of its own in response, and equalized on 30 minutes through 16-year-old Noel Buck's fine finish. But Richmond would regain the lead when - as he did in the first meeting between these two teams this season - Juan Pablo Monticelli scored from a corner kick just before the break, heading in from Vinyals' quality delivery.

The Kickers doubled their advantage six minutes after halftime, and once again it was Vinyals pulling the strings. The Spaniard ghosted through the Revolution II defense and set up Emiliano Terzaghi for a tap-in finish and the home side's third goal on the night.

New England pulled a goal back through Pierre Cayet with about 15 minutes remaining to set up a nervous finish for Richmond fans, and their nerves really jangled when Justin Rennicks hit the post for the Revolution II. But the Kickers ultimately saw out the result for a welcome three points.

Both teams are on the road next Saturday, with Richmond headed to Wisconsin to take on rivals Forward Madison FC while the Revolution II visit Union Omaha.
