The Flamingos came from behind twice in the second half to earn a point

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Forward Madison FC came from behind twice in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw with Fort Lauderdale CF on Tuesday night at DRV PNK Stadium.

Each team flashed warning signs early, and it would be Fort Lauderdale who found the opening goal after 25 minutes. George Acosta made a smart interception in midfield and immediately played in Mitchell Curry with a through ball.

Curry rounded Madison goalkeeper Philip Breno and finished from a tight angle to put the home side in front, giving Acosta his league-leading fifth assist in eight games.

Madison then continued its team run of scoring all its goals in second halves, getting the equalizer just before the hour mark. Aaron Molloy slipped in Jake Keegan with a clever pass, and the experienced striker made no mistake.

Fort Lauderdale regained the lead 10 minutes later, when Madison's Christian Díaz accidentally deflected Shaan Hundal's cross into his own net. Keegan had two more chances to level the score again late, including one which smashed against the crossbar, and it looked like the home side would hold on for victory.

But Madison's Derek Gebhard had other ideas. The forward picked up the ball on the right flank with an immaculate first touch, and cut inside on his left foot before unleashing a vicious strike. The ball was still rising as it rocketed into the net to tie the game once again.

The highly-entertaining contest would finish all square in the end, with Madison and Fort Lauderdale each taking home a point.

Both teams are back in action at the weekend. Fort Lauderdale hits the road to face North Carolina FC on Saturday, while Madison returns home for a rematch with Union Omaha on Sunday after defeating los Búhos last week.
