CARY, N.C. - FC Tucson overturned an early deficit to beat North Carolina FC 2-1 on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park.
NCFC's Selmir Miscic opened the scoring thanks to a bit of fine footwork nine minutes in to the match. The 18-year-old did well to control a pass from Jay Tee Kamara and beat both his defender and the goalkeeper before sliding the ball into an empty net.
But Tucson wouldn't be behind for long. Two minutes after Miscic's goal, Tucson defender Kaelon Fox fizzed a ball across the six-yard area, and it deflected over the line to level the score.
Lightning delayed the match late in the first half, but after breaks for both the weather and halftime, Tucson grabbed the advantage through Manuel Ferriol. The Spaniard struck a beautiful first-time shot from Giovanni Calixtro's smart layoff to put the visitors ahead, and that's how the scoreline would stay until the final whistle.
Both teams are back in action at home next Saturday. NCFC hosts Fort Lauderdale CF, while Tucson welcomes Toronto FC II.
