Pierre Cayet's header gave New England a second-straight shutout win against its Floridian opponents

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Pierre Cayet's first-half header earned the New England Revolution II a 1-0 win over Fort Lauderdale CF on Friday evening at Gillette Stadium.

Cayet put New England on the board with his first professional goal 17 minutes in to the match. The Frenchman did well to get his head on a well-placed free kick delivery from Jake Rozhansky, and directed the ball beyond the reach of Fort Lauderdale goalkeeper Drake Callender.

Fort Lauderdale got a golden chance to equalize just four minutes later when Abel Caputo was brought down in the box and earned a penalty kick for the visitors. But Revolution II goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. came to the rescue, denying Shaan Hundal from the spot with a diving save.

Both teams put the ball in the net only to see their efforts ruled out by the offside flag early in the second half, and Callender made a fantastic stop to prevent Revs II from doubling its lead. The visitors piled on more and more pressure as the game reached its final stages, but New England's defense held firm - in large part thanks to Edwards Jr. - and the Revolution II earned its second win of the young season, both of which have come against Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Forward Madison FC at DRV PNK Stadium, while the Revolution II has eight days off before a trip to Virginia to face the Richmond Kickers.
