Venton Evans scored twice to lead a dominant Fort Lauderdale display

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A dominant offensive performance saw Fort Lauderdale CF cruise to a 5-1 victory over FC Tucson on Sunday night at DRV PNK Stadium.

It took only 90 seconds for Fort Lauderdale to open the scoring with the fastest goal of the 2021 League One season so far. A brilliant team move was capped off in style when George Acosta played in Abel Caputo, who finished off the chance.

Tucson had a golden chance to equalize seven minutes later when Daniel Bedoya was brought down in the box, but Franco Perez's penalty kick attempt was denied by Fort Lauderdale goalkeeper Drake Callender.

From there, it was all Fort Lauderdale. The home side went on to score four more times, including another assist and a goal from Acosta and two goals from Venton Evans. The only blemish on an otherwise perfect night for the home side was a well-worked consolation goal for FC Tucson in the 75th minute.

Fort Lauderdale travels to Chattanooga to face Red Wolves SC next weekend, while Tucson has a week-and-a-half off before taking on Toronto FC II.
