STATESBORO, Ga. - Shaan Hundal's first-half strike was all Fort Lauderdale CF needed to pick up a road win over South Georgia Tormenta FC on Saturday night at Erk Russell Park.
Tormenta started well and put Fort Lauderdale under pressure on a few occasions, but it was the visitors who opened the scoring on the counterattack. Drew Hardin beat the offside trap and unselfishly slid the ball to Hundal, who fired into the empty net to put Fort Lauderdale ahead.
Tormenta grew steadily more aggressive as the match wore on, and a shot from Marco Micaletto was deflected just over the bar in second-half stoppage time. But the South Georgia side were ultimately unable to break down Fort Lauderdale, who claimed all three points on the night.
Next up for Tormenta is a trip to Union Omaha next weekend, while Fort Lauderdale will head west to take on North Texas SC.
