GREENVILLE, S.C. – Greenville Triumph SC announced on Friday it had signed Dutch forward Marios Lomis ahead of the 2021 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval.

The Bennebroek, Netherlands native comes to the Triumph from North Carolina FC, where he spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as well as the conclusion of the 2020 campaign. Lomis began the 2020 Championship season with El Paso Locomotive FC, where he made five appearances before a midseason move brought him back to North Carolina.

Overall, Lomis has made 54 appearances in the Championship’s regular season and playoffs, recording 11 goals and three assists in 2,466 minutes of action. In 2019, he was named North Carolina’s Comeback Player of the Year after returning from an early-season ankle injury to help the team reach the USL Championship Playoffs late in the campaign.

“Marios is a talented, proven striker that has significant experience in the USL Championship,” said Triumph Head Coach John Harkes. “Acquiring a natural goal scorer like Marios fits nicely with our talented, competitive group. We are excited to see him in a GTSC kit in 2021.”

Prior to his professional career, Lomis played one season of college soccer at Creighton University before signing with NCFC. Before making his move to the United States, the Dutch forward spent four seasons with VV Noordwijk in the Hoofdklassein – the fifth division of Dutch soccer. He tallied 13 goals for the club during the 2016-2017 season.

Lomis joins a group of 14 returning players for the Triumph following the club's season-end roster decisions as well as former Forward Madison FC attacker and seasoned professional, Don Smart.
