Greenville Triumph SC has signed former Forward Madison FC forward Don Smart to a one-year contract with an option for 2022, the club announced Monday.

Smart signed with Forward Madison as the club’s first-ever player in 2018. The Jamaican forward went on to make 44 appearances for the Flamingos which has him tied for the most matches played all-time among outfield players in league history. He also ranks second all-time in career assists with eight and sixth all-time in chances created with 59. Smart scored nine goals and maintained a 51.11-percent shooting accuracy across his two seasons in Madison.

Smart brings a wealth of professional experience outside of League One to the Greenville Triumph roster. The veteran attacker has made over 165 professional appearances including a long stint at Indy Eleven when the club was in the North American Soccer League. Smart played 95 games for Indy, tallying 10 goals and 12 assists across four seasons.

Smart is Greenville’s first new signing ahead of the 2021 season. He joins 14 returning players on the club’s current roster.
