Chattanooga Red Wolves SC have signed midfielder Jimmie Villalobos for the 2021 season, the club announced Friday.

"Jimmie is a player that is calm on the ball and doesn't panic when under pressure,” said Red Wolves Head Coach Jimmy Obleda. “But perhaps most important is that as a midfielder, he gets in the box and scores goals.  That is what we will be getting from him in the 2021 season."

Villalobos finished his collegiate career at Cal Poly Pomona in 2019, playing three seasons for the Broncos after spending his freshman year at the College of the Desert. The 25-year-old scored 51 goals and tallied 17 assists in 65 matches during his collegiate career. During his time at Cal Poly Pomona, Villalbolos earned a host of accolades including a D2CCA All-America First Team honor and led the Broncos to two NCAA Division II Final Four appearances.

“I was drawn to Chattanooga by Coach Obleda’s philosophy in regards to playing style as well as the team culture,” says Villalobos. “Coach spoke to me about creating a winning team in Chattanooga and I can see that he, along with the entire club, have built something primed for success and I want to be a part of it. I cannot wait to start playing and to provide my full potential to make an impact on the team and league. I am very excited to be part of this great organization.”

Villalobos will join several former teammates in Chattanooga in 2021. He played with Jason Ramos, who is set to return to the Red Wolves next year, at Cal Poly Pomona, crossed paths with 2020 All-League selection Ricky Ruiz at LA Force and was teammates with fellow new signing Jose Carrera-Garcia at the Golden State Force in USL League Two in 2019.
