North Texas SC has exercised the contract options of Alex Bruce, Alisson dos Santos Correa, Nicky Hernandez, and Derek Waldeck, the club announced Monday afternoon. The quartet joins returners Imanol Almaguer, David Rodriguez and Gibran Rayo as well as new signing Hope Kodzo Avayevu on NTSC’s 2021 roster.

After joining North Texas last December, Bruce had a productive season for the second-year club. The Texas native tallied three goals and an assist in 14 appearances and eight starts.

Hernandez signed the club in September following three seasons at Southern Methodist University. The 21-year-old midfielder played a vital role in North Texas’ late surge for a postseason place, notching three goals and two assists in nine matches.

Waldeck and Alisson each appeared in every match for NTSC, two of only three players to do so in 2020. A first-year pro, Waldeck led the side in duels won (58) and finished second on the squad in recoveries (89), while Alisson made the most interceptions (32) and won more tackles (16) than any other player on the NTSC roster.

NTSC also announced on Monday that the 2021 contract options for Carlos Avilez, Juan Manuel Alvarez, Pedro Conceição Alves, Brecc Evans, Philip Ponder, Arturo Rodriguez and Luis Zamudio were not exercised. Additionally, Ronaldo Damus is out of contract.
