Squad reeled off five wins in last six games and led the league in goals for the month

TAMPA, Fla. – North Texas SC’s Eric Quill has been named USL League One’s Coach of the Month for October after his side won five of its last six games in the regular season to surge into third place in the final league standings. Quill’s squad also led the league with 12 goals over the final month of the campaign and posted a +8 goal-differential.

The defending League One title-holders began October in 10th place in the standings after having claimed only two wins in their first 10 games of the regular season. The side began its impressive run of form with a 3-0 win against Fort Lauderdale CF on October 3 that saw Ronaldo Damus record two goals and one assist, and then continued with consecutive victories against postseason contenders Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and the Richmond Kickers in the following seven days.

Quill’s side was also boosted by the return from a loan spell of Arturo Rodriguez, who notched three goals and one assist to earn nomination for League One Player of the Month, and his goal deep in stoppage time against Forward Madison FC to earn a 1-0 win in the club’s penultimate game of the regular season kept it alive in the race for a top-two finish. Victory against South Georgia Tormenta FC saw NTSC finish its first year at Globe Life Park undefeated, but it was edged into third place by Union Omaha as Los Buhos also won on the final day to end in second.

North Texas SC finished tied for the fewest defeats in League One alongside title-winner Greenville Triumph SC and Omaha as Quill’s leadership helped his side remain one of the toughest teams to beat in the league.

Quill was selected as League One’s Coach of the Month by the USL League One Technical Committee.
