Josh Coan's brace helped FCT finish the 2020 season on a high note

TUCSON, Ariz. - FC Tucson ended its 2020 season on a high note by beating Orlando City B 2-0 at Kino North Stadium on Saturday night.

OCB started brightly, but Tucson began to dominate possession and pushed the Lions further back as the game wore on. The home side created a few decent looks at goal, but looked like they wouldn't be able to find the breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes until Josh Coan did exactly that with the last kick of the first half.

Picking up a pass from Charlie Dennis in space, Coan did well to cut the ball onto his left foot and shape a lovely shot beyond OCB goalkeeper Austin Aviza, giving Tucson the lead at the break.

Tucson piled on the pressure in the second half, with Dennis nearly doubling the advantage himself after 57 minutes. The midfielder found himself alone in the box and fired a shot which was cleared off the line by an OCB defender.

The home side continued to pursue an insurance goal, and was again denied shortly after the hour mark by a fantastic triple save from Aviza. Eventually though, Coan netted his and Tucson's second goal of the match in the 90th minute to seal the result.

The game was the last of FC Tucson's 2020 season, a campaign which started shakily but ended on a positive note. The Arizona club went unbeaten in its final four games, finishing with 22 points to generate upward momentum for 2021.

Orlando City B returns to action on Wednesday night, when the Lions host Richmond Kickers.
