Three goals from three different scorers saw the Owls beat South Georgia

PAPILLION, Neb. - Goals from Evan Conway, Damia Viader and JP Scearce propelled Union Omaha to a 3-0 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC on Saturday night at Werner Park.

The opening stages were fairly even, and the two teams quickly settled into a period of play where each was feeling the other out. Omaha opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Conway, thanks to a direct attacking move.

New Omaha signing Tobias Otieno provided the assist for Conway, picking out the forward with a pinpoint cross for his first League One assist.

Just as Tormenta began to create sustained pressure on the Omaha goal in the second half in search of an equalizer, Viader netted his first goal of the season to put the game to bed. Ethan Vanacore-Decker found him sprinting down the middle of the field on a counter-attack, and Viader made no mistake with the finish.

Scearce added a third Omaha goal in the 83rd minute, sealing a second consecutive win for the Owls to follow a three-game losing skid. The turnaround in form is coming at the right time for Jay Mims' squad - coupled with the Richmond Kickers' loss to New England Revolution II, Omaha now finds itself back in second place (albeit having played two more games than Richmond).

Tormenta will look to bounce back from the disappointing result when it hosts FC Tucson in Statesboro on Wednesday, while Omaha will be looking forward to a matchup that has massive implications in the race for second place when it travels to take on Forward Madison FC next Sunday.

SCORING SUMMARY
  • OMA (38'): Conway (fourth), assisted by Otieno
  • OMA (78'): Viader (first), assisted by Vanacore-Decker
  • OMA (83'): Scearce (second), assisted by Viader
