Despite twice conceding the lead, Vanacore-Decker's late winner earned Omaha all three points

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Fort Lauderdale CF came from behind on two separate occasions, but Union Omaha's offense scored three goals for the first time this season to outlast the home side and win 3-2 at Inter Miami CF Stadium on Wednesday night.

The first chance of the match fell Omaha's way after 12 minutes. Austin Panchot broke free down the right flank and found Evan Conway free in the box, who fired wide. The Owls then started to turn the screw and dictate the flow of the match.

Omaha's pressure paid off in the 25th minute from a fine bit of route one soccer. Conway flicked along Rashid Nuhu's goal kick, which Panchot latched on to and calmly slotted past Dylan Castanheira in the Fort Lauderdale net to end Union's three-match scoreless drought.

Fort Lauderdale responded well, and pulled themselves level right before halftime through Eduardo Sosa's second goal in as many games. Sosa lined up a right-footed shot from outside the area, and a deflection took Nuhu completely out of the equation as the ball looped over the Omaha goalkeeper's head and in.

Conway would restore the Owls' lead on the other side of the break, when a corner kick was knocked down into a goal-mouth scrum and the Omaha forward reacted first to smash it home.

Yet Fort Lauderdale was able to equalize for the second time in the match with a close range goal of its own. 15-year-old Felipe Valencia applied the finishing touch to again tie the score, the second tally of the youngest-ever USL goal-scorer's career.

Omaha's third goal on 84 minutes would finally hold up as the winner for the visitors, with Ethan Vanacore-Decker polishing off a slick counter-attack to seal an important three points for los Buhos.

After a three-game losing skid, the gritty performance comes as a massive boost for Omaha's morale and its hopes of reaching the League One Final. The result moves the Owls within a single point of the second-place Richmond Kickers, though the Kickers have played two fewer matches. Union fans will also take heart from the debut of Kenyan midfielder Tobias Otieno, a recent signing at the club.

Both teams face quick turnarounds before playing again on Saturday, with Fort Lauderdale traveling to play North Texas and Union Omaha returning home to take on Tormenta FC.
