FC  Tucson have signed forward Darius Lewis, the club announced Thursday. The 20-year-old attacker featured in the side’s 2-2 draw with the Richmond Kickers last Saturday at Kino Sports Complex.

“I am excited to welcome Darius to the club.  He will provide us with another attacking option for the remainder of the year,” said FC Tucson Head Coach John Galas. “He comes from a great youth set up with the Philadelphia Union Academy and has had some professional experience playing in the top division in the Faroe Islands. He is a quick, dynamic, explosive, and technical player.  He is a welcomed addition to the club.”

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Lewis was a member of the Philadelphia Union Academy. He scored 21 goals across three seasons with U17 and U19 squads. After graduating from the Union Academy, Lewis forewent college and signed with KÍ Klaksvík in the Faroe Islands where he gained Europa League experience.

Lewis also brings international experience to FC Tucson. The Port St. Lucie, Florida native made his full national team debut for Trinidad and Tobago on November 10, 2019, scoring two goals in a 15-0 victory over Anguilla.

“The guys have taken me in as one of their own and I’ve been friendly with most of them,” said Lewis. “A couple of the guys have been mentoring me while I’m here so I’m grateful for that. It’s a really nice group of guys. We train hard and we fight hard,” said Lewis.

FC Tucson plays its second consecutive home match this Saturday when it hosts North Texas SC at Kino Sports Complex.
