Los Buhos needed just the one goal to pick up all three points at Werner Park

PAPILLION, Neb. - Evan Conway's goal moments before halftime sealed a scrappy 1-0 home win for Union Omaha over Orlando City B on Sunday night at Werner Park. The result keeps Omaha unbeaten through the first seven games in the club's history, and lifts Los Buhos to second place in the League One table.

Omaha started the match well, accruing seven shots and 75 percent possession through the first 15 minutes. But Orlando City B nearly broke the deadlock against the run of play when Mason Lamb played in Moises Tablante. Omaha goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu did well to make himself big in the 1v1 situation, and Tablante's shot was straight at him in the end.

Conway headed Omaha into the lead on 43 minutes, with a chance created by a nifty bit of play from Devin Boyce. Boyce received the ball and made an excellent turn to create space, then skipped past another defender. His cross from the right flank found Conway at the back post, who nodded home his second goal of the season.

The Omaha defense did a good job keeping OCB's chances to a minimum throughout the second half. Nuhu made another fantastic save to preserve his and Omaha's clean sheet around the hour-mark, reacting quickly to deny Wilfredo Rivera on what was perhaps the Lions' best opportunity after halftime.

Los Buhos would see out the 1-0 result to leapfrog the Richmond Kickers into the all-important second-place spot in the table. Omaha's unbeaten run through its first seven games equals North Texas SC's seven-match unbeaten stretch to start the 2019 season (North Texas went on to win the League One title).

Union Omaha sit four points behind league leaders Greenville Triumph SC with two games in hand, and the Nebraska club's next chance to gain ground on Greenville is an away trip to Tormenta FC in Week 9.

On the other side, it was OCB's sixth game in a row without a win. The Lions will look to start building momentum when they visit Floridian rivals Fort Lauderdale CF next weekend.

SCORING SUMMARY

OMA (43'): Conway (second), assisted by Boyce.
