Two sides in need of points had to settle for one each on Thursday night

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - A pair of first half goals six minutes apart saw Orlando City B and North Texas SC play out a 1-1 draw on Thursday night at Osceola County Stadium.

North Texas' Oscar Romero opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 24 minutes, after Collin Smith squirmed free in the box and was brought down by a sliding challenge. Romero converted it coolly, his second penalty kick goal of the season.

It took just six minutes for OCB to restore parity through an excellent effort from Jose Quintero. Wilfredo Rivera found himself under pressure from two defenders on the right flank, and with no other option simply poked the ball into the box. Though it looked like there was no opportunity for Orlando, Quintero rushed onto the ball and won it. He then did brilliantly to cut inside on his left foot, before curling a shot out of the reach of North Texas goalkeeper Carlos Avilez and inside the far post to level the score.

Both teams created chances through the second half, but neither consistently threatened the opposition goal as the 1-1 scoreline held until the final whistle.

Though the sides have some positives to take from the match, each will be disappointed not to have picked up all three points. The result moves OCB temporarily off the bottom of the table, while North Texas still can't seem to recover its blistering form from last season. The Texans are in seventh place, six points off the playoff places as the League One season nears its midpoint.

OCB face a quick turnaround, as the Lions will travel to Nebraska to take on unbeaten Union Omaha on Sunday. North Texas have the weekend off before returning to action next week against FC Tucson.

SCORING SUMMARY

NTX (24'): Romero (second), penalty kick.
ORL (30'): Quintero (first), assisted by Rivera.
