Flamingo attack finds its rhythm in 4-0 thumping

Don Smart scored a goal and assisted two others as Forward Madison FC beat South Georgia Tormenta FC 4-0 at Hart Park in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Madison opened the scoring inside of ten minutes as Paulo Jr. found Michael Vang near the penalty spot with a cut back. Vang took a touch and calmly finished past goalkeeper Pablo Jara to score his first career League One goal in his first career League One match.

Smart tallied his goal 15 minutes later, nodding JC Banks’ inswinging cross from the right flank past Jara from eight yards out.

The Jamaican forward turned provider in the 58th minute as he curled an inch-perfect pass in behind the Tormenta FC backs, finding Wojciech Wojcik who took a touch and finished easily from five yards out.

Paulo Jr. made it four in the 69th minute after Smart found his diagonal run with a cutting pass between the Tormenta FC center backs. The veteran forward collected the pass, rounded Jara on the dribble and tucked his shot into the empty net to cap off an excellent Madison performance.

The win was the Flamingos’ first of the season and takes them to sixth in the League One standings heading into Saturday’s matches. Tormenta FC, meanwhile, have not lost three consecutive matches and sit in fifth place with six matches played.
